Land Degradation is the reduction or loss of land productivity resulting from unsustainable land use or habitation patterns, deterioration of the physical, chemical, biological, or economic properties of soil, and long-term loss of natural vegetation.
The project seeks to combine localised climate science with traditional knowledge systems by drawing on the expertise of the National Centre of Excellence on Climate Change Adaptation and regional research institutions to produce evidence-based recommendations that strengthen the resilience of small and marginal farmers at the district and Gram Panchayat levels.
The initiative also focuses on integrating biodiversity conservation, climate action, and sustainable land management into India's agricultural sector. By promoting transformative changes in agricultural practices, it aims to advance national and global environmental objectives while safeguarding critical biodiversity and forest landscapes.
